Review Updated Draft Recommendations to Help Pathologists and Laboratories

To confirm the accuracy and equivalence with light microscopy of whole slide imaging (WSI) systems before they are used for diagnostic purposes, the College of American Pathologists in collaboration with the American Society for Clinical Pathology and the Association for Pathology Informatics are updating the 2013 guideline “Validating Whole Slide Imaging for Diagnostic Purposes in Pathology.”

Updates and reaffirmations are available for public review until July 19, 2019.

All stakeholders—including pathologists, histotechnologists, laboratory personnel, quality managers, hospitals, health systems, and vendors—are encouraged to review the draft recommendations to ensure they are clinically sound, practical, and implementable.
